Will you install the thermostat I bought online or at a local store?
Yes, we install all brands and models of thermostats including but not limited to HoneyWell, Emerson, ELECTECK, and more. We also install smart home solutions like Google Nest, Ecobee, Emerson Seni, and Mysa.

What areas do you service?
Stateline Services proudly serves Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and Western North Carolina, including Bristol, Johnson City, Kingsport, and the greater Asheville area. If you’re unsure whether your home or business is within our service area, contact us and we’ll be happy to confirm.
Do you offer same-day or emergency appointments?
Yes, especially for urgent situations like no cooling in extreme heat, no water, or safety-related electrical issues.
Financing
Do you accept credit cards or financing options?
We accept all major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, and Discover. Also, to make it easier for our customers, we provide financing through Greensky.
What’s the cost to have an expert tech come to my home?
We charge a flat rate of $110 consultation fee to visit your home in the Tri-Cities. For customers signed up for one of Membership Plans, this fee is included at no extra charge. Additionally, the fee will be waived if a customer signs up for a Membership Plan at the time of service.
How expensive is a new heating and cooling system?
Unfortunately, the cost for a new heating and cooling system ranges greatly. They start at about $3,800 and go up to $10,000. Our expert techs in Tri-Cities TN, will guide you on finding a custom solution to your HVAC needs.
HVAC
Do you offer free estimates for a new HVAC system or replacement?
Yes. Share your square footage, current system type/age, and timeline, and we’ll provide a scheduled visit or in-home quote for AC, furnace, heat pump, or ductless mini-split replacement.
My AC is running but the house still isn’t cooling — what’s wrong?
This is one of our most common calls, even after another company said “nothing’s wrong.” We diagnose airflow, refrigerant, and thermostat/sensor issues that cause a system to run constantly without keeping up.
Do you clean air ducts, and how do I know if I need it?
Yes. Common signs include reduced airflow, allergy or respiratory symptoms in the space, or simply not knowing the duct system’s history in an older or newly purchased house. Pricing depends on square footage and the number of vents/returns.
Do you service ductless mini-split systems?
Yes, including multi-zone systems — maintenance, refrigerant recharge, and efficiency troubleshooting.
How much does a heating or AC tune-up cost?
Tune-up pricing depends on system type and age; contact us and we’ll quote it directly, and Gold Members receive priority scheduling and discounts on maintenance.
Plumbing
Do you offer free estimates for plumbing repairs and replacements?
We do not offer free estimates for repairs. We will need to go onsite and provide an estimate onsite. This does include the trip charge. For replacements, the trip charge may be waived or not applied at time of service.
My water pressure randomly cuts out and comes back — can you fix that?
Yes, intermittent water loss or pressure drops are a common and diagnosable issue — we’ll identify whether it’s a valve, pressure regulator, or supply line problem.
Do you install or repair gas lines for propane appliances?
Yes, our licensed plumbers handle gas line work for propane water heaters, wall heaters, and similar appliances, following all local safety codes.
I just bought an older home — can you inspect or replace the piping?
Yes, we offer second-opinion inspections for older copper or PVC piping and can quote full or partial repipes.
Do you handle small repairs like a broken shower pipe or leaky faucet?
Do you use cameras to inspect sewer or drain lines for clogs?
Yes, camera inspection is part of our standard sewer and drain diagnostic process, along with additional drain cleaning, hydro jetting, and sewer line repair/replacement.
Can you help with plumbing for a bathroom addition (e.g., converting a garage)?
It does depend on the scope of work. Stateline Services usually works on add on and remodels for existing customers.
Do you maintain or repair water heaters, including tankless models?
Yes, including tank draining, thermostat checks, and full repair or replacement of traditional and tankless units.

Do you provide electrical quotes for new construction homes?
No
Can you replace a ceiling fan or light fixture?
Yes, fixture swaps and replacements are a quick, common service call for us.
Some of my outlets stopped working — what could cause that?
Dead outlets are usually tied to a tripped breaker, a bad connection, or a GFCI issue elsewhere on the circuit — we can diagnose and repair it same-visit in most cases.
